Monroe Hodder

Monroe Hodder graduated with an MFA from the SF Art Institute in 1980.  Her work has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide and she is in eight museum collections. Over 40 reviews have been written about her paintings.  She was granted a UK Visa and then UK Citizenship to reside in the UK as a professional artist.  She is represented by  major galleries in the US and the UK.  She has participated in frequent artist residencies, including Puerto Rico, Iceland and Nantucket.

Statement

This series of paintings is named Dirty Little Paintings because they are never quite finished and leave strands and blobs and scrapes as part of what they are.  They do not seek sublime perfection but wallow in their own messiness - thrashing around like the first signs of spring in a still, frozen world.
