Joan Hooker
Her work has been exhibited at the Salmagundi Club, Hirschl & Adler Galleries, National Academy of Design, Allen Sheppard Gallery, Newman Galleries, Somerville Manning Gallery, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens Museum, Maine Museum of Art, Butler Institute of Art and others. She participated in numerous annual openings at the Bel-Ans Art Center in Orangeburg where she has had a studio since 1996. She has been a resident at the Bogliasco Foundation in Bogliasco Italy three times and has participated in numerous workshops mostly connected with the Grand Central Academy in New York. Taught still life painting at the Art Students League in Sparkill, NY.
StatementI am an oil painter primarily concentrating on still lifes, striving in my work to express the essence of the subjects as well as the emotion that motivated me to capture them.
